The composition of Dallmeier digital virtual matrix system consists of Dallmeier DIS-1S digital hard disk recorder. It adopted MPEG2 hardware compression algorithm for transmission and storage. Internal hard disk capacity can be up to 1T. DIS-1S is a real time 25 fps recording and transmission, real time playback with DVD quality at 4 CIF at normal speed forward and backward, frame by frame forward and backward etc…. DIS-1S connects to the virtual matrix system network through its RJ45 connector, it supports multi network protocol and through LAN router transmit data in order to perform monitor switching and control functions etc…. It controls camera through the data port. Each Dallmeier DIS-1S is not fixed to be defined that it is an encoder or a decoder; actually, user can freely define it is an encoder; a decoder; or both encoder and decoder. Each DIS-1S has video input and output, audio input and output. It can be used alone as a DVR, or it can be used in a digital virtual matrix system.

In the system, doesn't have any location limitation, video output and keyboard control can be at any point within the system. Dallmeier digital virtual matrix system has unicast or multicast transmission throughout the network; and therefore it does not have any limitation on location, connection number, and system integration.

DIS-1S can be located at camera site for recording, or it can be located at control centre site for central recording. Under this circumstance, it will never influence the recordings if there is a failure at any point within the system.

With alternation of DIS-1S video transmission bandwidth, user can freely control the system network resources and video picture quality based on the real network situation.
