It controls camera through the data port. Each Dallmeier DIS-1S is not fixed to be defined that it is an encoder or a decoder; actually, user can freely define it is an encoder; a decoder; or both encoder and decoder. Each DIS-1S has video input and output, audio input and output. It can be used alone as a DVR, or it can be used in a digital virtual matrix system.
In the system, doesn't have any location limitation, video output and keyboard control can be at any point within the system.
