The fully digital CCTV surveillance system of Kunming train station adopted German Dallmeier encoder / decoder for compression, decompression, transmission, switching, and recording. The German Dallmeier codec uses MPEG-2 algorithm, alternative bandwidth, 4CIF (720x576) resolution, DVD picture quality, internal hard disk, small latency and able to playback frame by frame backward.

The new train station CCTV system constitutes of 96 encoders as input, 38 decoders as output. Front end cameras compose of 92 sets PELCO dome cameras and 4 sets Esprit cameras. Monitoring center, police monitoring center, broadcast control center, fire control center and transport operation duty to compose the outputs. It distributes on local hard disk for video recording of each front end input, each monitoring device outputs can playback recordings of any front end on selection. And PELCO CM9760 keyboard is used for switch and PTZ controls.
